An inspiring animated short film created in Blender.
I wanted to share an impressive animated short film that I watched recently.
Made within Blender, The Ballad of Pale Blue Dot is a fantastic showcase for what can be accomplished by one person with a clear vision and the skills to pull it off.
Written, animated, and directed by Duncan Rudd, the film has a beautiful, hand crafted, style which works perfectly with the song.
I don’t want to spoil the story before you watch it, but I feel that Duncan sums it up nicely by calling it “Part documentary, part music video, part cry for help.”
Whilst the song was written back in 2018, the production phase for the film took just four months, an impressive accomplishment. The simple style clearly helped, but there’s still a huge amount of work involved in crafting a film like this by yourself.
